The Giovanni Armenise-Harvard Foundation, in conjunction with the Italian Science Writers Association (UGIS), has launched a Science Writers Fellowship Program for young Italian science writers working in Italy. Each year two Italian science writers at the beginning or mid-career are selected to spend a week in June or July at Harvard Medical School. Science Writer Fellows have the opportunity to interview top HMS researchers from diverse fields, tour laboratories, attend Armenise-Harvard and/or HMS symposia and conferences, meet science writers from the HMS community, and work with editors at HMS.
Eligibility and Grant Application Process Candidates must:
Be Italian science writers in the earlier stages of their career, who are currently working in Italy.
Have a good command of English and previous experience writing about science for the general public.

Funding
During the fellowship period, the Science Writer Fellows will be provided with return economy airfare between Italy and Boston, hotel accommodation, and will be reimbursed for documented local meal and transport expenses for up to $50 per day.
Evaluation and Reporting
Award recipients will be expected to provide a full report, in English and in Italian, to both the Armenise-Harvard Foundation and to UGIS at the end of the fellowship. Science Writer Fellows are also asked to send UGIS and the Foundation copies of any articles published as a result of the Fellowship within one year of the termination of the Fellowship.

PLEASE SUBMIT APPLICATIONS WITH CONTENTS IN THE FOLLOWING ORDER The application process is electronic. All documents must be emailed to the Foundation before the deadline of 15 March. Please use your name in the document titles. The Application Form will be one separate PDF file (e.g. Rossi SWF app form.pdf) while all other application documentation should be combined into a second PDF file (e.g. Rossi SWF application docs.pdf) and sent to applicants@gahf.it. (NB Both pdf files can be sent in the same email as long as they are two separate documents.)
